“I wholeheartedly recommend Gregory to anyone seeking a profound and enriching yoga experience led by a truly exceptional instructor. ”
“As I deepen my studies through Gregs Yoga Teacher Training, the synergy of Ayurveda and Bhānumatī Yoga continues to be my guiding light, inspiring me to share these ancient wisdoms in everyday life with my own clients. I am forever grateful for Greg’s wisdom and guidance on this path”
Bhānumatī Yoga has evolved from Gregory’s exposure to Sivananda Yoga, Anusara Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Jivamukti Yoga, Yin Yoga, and his own extensive personal practice.
Bhānumatī Yoga blends two styles of yoga (Shakti and Shiva) into one practice. It combines the benefits of strong (or gentle) dynamic flowing vinyasa sequences and standing postures (Shakti) with a meditative style of yoga that targets the body's deep and dense connective tissues, such as ligaments, tendons, fascia, and joints (Shiva).
Shiva and Shakti are concepts that describe two relative and opposite qualities present in everything (in the same way the Chinese refer to Yin and Yang). For a balanced, sustainable yoga practice, we need both Shakti and Shiva elements. What initially appears to be opposing or contrary forces is actually complementary—Shiva holds space for Shakti to move through, giving direction to Shakti’s shape-shifting energetic flow, while Shakti offers Shiva the gift of expression.
The goal of this training is to produce inspiring Yoga teachers who are able to draw on their own practice to bring to there personal style. The training will not be just an physical transferring of techniques; the teachings will be transmitted in such a way that the essence of the 8 limbs of Yoga can be absorbed into the heart of the student.
A message from Gregory Angell
“Yoga came to us here in the West from the highly devotional culture of India where the philosophy and practices of Yoga have been part of people’s lives for many centuries on an everyday basis. Opening the heart, loving, and expressing affection are undeniably an important part of Yoga.
During the course we will explore how we can best practise yoga both authentically and in harmony with the yogic teachings of the east. As such, the reading list will include The Bhagavad Gita and The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. These books give a succinct summary of the philosophy and spiritual teachings underlying the yoga practises that have been undertaken for millennia.
As well as exploring asana and pranayama we will also devote time to the study and practise of meditation and chanting (an aspect of Nada Yoga, based on the idea that everything in the universe is made up of vibrations, or nada, and that these vibrations are the energy that forms matter and particles). We will also explore the rich and fascinating world of deities; Shiva is considered the patron of yoga, meditation, and the arts, and is also known as Adiyogi, which means ‘the first Yogi’.
Let’s find what makes our hearts sing 🙏💙😌✨” - Gregory Angell

You will be challenged on this course,
You will realise that you have an amazing amount of strength and perseverance within you. You will develop a new relationship with yourself as you watch yourself show up, watch your physical, mental, and spiritual self develop, and experience a deep sense of gratitude for the journey. You’ll also learn how to listen to your needs and follow your intuition; supporting you in all areas of your life. You will make friends for life; a yoga teacher training is a truly transformational experience. The people that surround you on this journey naturally become your allies and your cheerleaders day in and day out.
You will understand yoga in an entirely new way.
Like so many things in life, it isn’t until you truly live the teachings of yoga that they begin to unravel and become clear. You may be an experienced practitioner or you may have only dipped your toes in the yogic ocean long enough to know you want to dive deeper. Either way, this yoga teacher training will completely transform your understanding of this ancient practice.
All other areas of your life will also transform
As yoga begins to infiltrate your life in new ways, you will notice that all areas of your life change. Chances are, your relationships will transform. How you work or what you do for work may shift. The routines that you have in life may adapt to suit your needs in new ways. A yoga teacher training opens our eyes to the things that are working in our life, and also the things that may need a little extra attention. For many people, a yoga teacher training can be the beginning of a brand new chapter of life. For others, it may be small things, maybe you let go of relationships that have been toxic or you simply rise a little earlier than normal to squeeze in some self care time before work. These changes ultimately support you and are reflective of the positive changes that a yoga teacher training inspires.

FAQs
-
Yoga is relevant and transformational for everybody. It’s a a real concern that people who would make great yoga teachers don’t sign up for the training because they don’t feel they ‘fit’ the mould. And the world is a poorer place because of it. The world doesn’t need more flexible people. What the world needs is more authentic, and by extension imperfect, yoga teachers.
The Grace Of Imperfection - As a by-product of practice, a yoga practitioner might master yoga postures, but yoga is not about mastery of postures. Yoga is about mastering the art of simply being, by relaxing the body, soothing the emotions, and calming the mind.
There is no such thing as a perfect yoga teacher. Let’s celebrate our imperfections and encourage all students to do the same. This course will gift you with presence, mindfulness, compassion, patience and generosity. You will come to see how yoga exists in everything, and that every moment is an opportunity to practise. As a teacher, you will then share this wisdom with others. You will see that there is no finish line in yoga and that your teacher training is only the beginning of a new and exciting journey.
